How did we get here
Message from the head of the department
Management has long played a transformative role in shaping societies and economies across the world. By emphasizing the responsible and sustainable use of resources while promoting human well-being, the discipline of management continues to guide institutions toward meaningful progress. In today’s dynamic environment, organizations have become the backbone of modern society, and effective management stands at the heart of their success, resilience, and long-term sustainability. Beyond the organizational sphere, sound management principles also influence the quality of social and family life, helping individuals lead balanced and purposeful lives.
The Department of Business Management is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders and professionals. Through a diverse range of academic offerings at the Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels, the Department provides a strong foundation for students to develop intellectually, professionally, and ethically.
Our flagship B.Sc. Honours in Business Management degree programme is designed to equip undergraduates with comprehensive knowledge, practical competencies, and the right attitudes required to thrive in modern organizational settings. The programme fosters analytical thinking, innovation, and a constructive mindset, enabling graduates to confidently navigate both local and global business environments.
Recognizing the importance of experiential learning, the Department also provides our talented and enthusiastic students with opportunities to engage directly with the professional world. The final-year industrial training programme, conducted under close academic supervision, allows students to gain valuable industry exposure and confront real-world business challenges, preparing them to become competent and responsible managers.

Acquired SLQF 6 – Bachelors Honours Degree
The Department offers B.Sc. (Honours) in Business Management Degree from this year
Launched the Annul Research symposium
First Wayamba Conference in Management (WAYACiM) was successfully conducted
Launched the Diploma in Business Management
The purpose was to conduct courses to meet the demands of the challenging business world,
Launched Wayamba Journal of Management
The Journal is devoted to focusing and discussing the issues at local and global management entities.
Launched the postgraduate degree programme
Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) and Master in Business Administration (MBA) was announced
First Student intake
Commenced the academic journey with 120 students
