Academic Information

The criteria for department selection (specialization) at our university involve a combination of academic performance and student preferences.

  1. Academic Performance: The total raw marks obtained in the specified subject combination prescribed by the respective department of study are crucial for selection. Students’ performance in these subjects is evaluated, and those with higher marks have a better chance of being selected for their desired specialization.
  2. Student Preference: Student preferences are taken into account when selecting a student for a specialized degree program. Students can indicate their desired field of specialization, and these preferences are considered during the selection process.

The best thing about this degree is its wide-ranging curriculum covering various business management aspects. This program equips you with essential skills, practical experience, and networking opportunities, preparing you for diverse managerial roles and further career development in specialized managerial practices.

Student Support and Resources

As a disabled student, you will receive comprehensive support, including access to specialized infrastructure designed to ensure accessibility across campus. Additionally, we provide personalized assistance and special attention to address your specific needs, ensuring that you have the necessary resources and accommodations to succeed in your studies.

The university offers a range of clubs and societies for students to join, including Rotaract, which focuses on community service and leadership; Gavel Club, which helps improve public speaking and leadership skills; and ISAC (International Students’ Advisory Council), which supports international students and promotes cultural exchange. These organizations provide opportunities for personal development, networking, and community involvement.

Currently, we do not offer a study abroad scheme.

We offer a range of student support systems, including a comprehensive library with extensive resources, a Learning Management System (LMS) for online course materials and communication, ICT lab facilities, and Academic advisors & counselors who provide individualized guidance and support throughout your academic journey. These resources are designed to help you succeed and make the most of your educational experience.

To obtain or change your LMS login details, please contact the Technical Officer of the ICT Center. They will assist you with your login issues and updates.

For queries about the Mahapola or Bursary, you should contact the Senior Assistant Registrar – Faculty of Business Studies & Finance.

Policies and Procedures

If you miss an examination, you should contact the Senior Assistant Registrar of the Faculty of Business Studies & Finance immediately. If your absence is due to a medical condition, you must apply for consideration within 14 days. For more details, please refer to the student handbook, page 33, section 4.7.

Approval to go overseas during academic semesters is not allowed. All students are expected to attend classes and complete their academic commitments during this period.

To get approval for the absence of an assignment, you should contact the relevant subject Lecturer directly. For more details, please refer to the student handbook, page 33.

No, working while studying is not allowed. Students are expected to focus on their academic commitments during their studies.

The expected level of attendance for a semester is 80%.
